在一个夏天的早晨，我来到了一个偏僻的小山村，在村庄里有几户人家，有一户的人家住着小茅屋，又矮又低，屋檐上爬满了瓜藤，结出了一个个又黄又大的南瓜，像一个个胖娃娃的脸。屋前有一条清澈见底的小溪，小溪里，有一条条活蹦乱跳的小鱼儿，溪上还有许多荷叶，荷叶上有的荷花已经开了，亭亭玉立，有的含苞欲放，还有的只是花骨朵儿，小溪边有一片绿油油的草地。在茅屋后面有着峰峦叠翠的山，山里长满了一棵棵高大挺拔的大树。
茅屋里，有一对老夫妻，他们喝了酒，有点醉了，用着吴地的方言，互相逗趣取乐。
“你看，你背都弯了，你牙都掉了，，皱纹都爬上脸啰！”老妇指着 老头笑着说。

屋后有块田，大儿子在田里卖力地锄豆，由于天气太热，大儿子把上衣都脱了，也还大汗淋漓。院子里，二儿子，盘腿坐着，为了给鸡一个更舒适的家，在为鸡编笼子，想到这儿，二儿子露出了会心的微笑。小儿子趴在小溪边，反翘着腿，哼着小调，开心地剥莲蓬。额头上有一簇刘海，两边扎着小辫，摇着头，很讨人喜欢。

我摸过妈妈的手，她的手上是一块叠着一块的茧，右手的小拇指也因为工作太久而成了弯曲的形状。她每天都要工作很久，久到我睡觉时还没回来。我常在深夜里见妈妈一次次挑开手上打起的水泡，贴上黑色的胶布。每听见她走到我床边的脚步声，我都紧紧地把眼睛闭着。她把被子掖好就静静回屋了，只余我一个人在黑夜里无声地啜泣。我亲爱的妈妈，您是如此辛苦养育我。我何以为报啊！
